Original diagnosis/description
Scapes bearing apically small sessile bulbils and pedicellate, campanulate flowers, both partially covered by broad spathes.
Etymology
The generic name, Paleoallium, refers to the remarkable similarity of the fossils to the modern onion/garlic genus Allium.
