Original diagnosis/description
Bracteate fruits comprising a broadly ovate to elliptic nut subtended by an involucre of two equal or sub-equal bracts. Nutlets flattened in the plane of the bracts with ribs on both faces. Perigone present bearing simple hairs.

From the closely related extant genus.
