Original diagnosis/description
Amb rounded sub-triangular to circular. Diameter (based on 110 measured specimens) 21 to 43 microns (mean about 30 microns). Weak vestigal trilete mark (narrow closed laesurae) observed in some specimens. Exine differentiated into a central portion and an equatorial zone. Equatorial zone 2 to 5 microns in width, smooth or with a few scattered projections. Remainder of distal surface granulate to verrucose, with closely packed rounded projections 1.5 to 4 microns in diameter. Narrow ring of thinner exine (ring-tenuitas or rimula) evident on distal surface at inner margin of equatorial zone in well preserved specimens. Remainder of proximal surface smooth or with reduced ornament. Exine light to dark brown (equatorial zone) to light yellow ( central portion).
