inv. nos and repositories according to Frojdová et al. (2017: fig. 1)

Frojdová et al. (2017: Rev. Palaeobot. Palynol., 236: 37, fig. 1) revised the syntypes figured on pl. 40 and excluded from Boweria schatzlarensis (≡ Hapalopteris schatzlarensis) all the specimens, except those figured on pl. 40 figs 1 and 2. They designated the former one as lectotype.

Note: Brousmiche (1986: pl. 1, figs 2-4) termed Kidston's specimen nos 1521, 2013 and one without number as paratypes.

The repository name recorded in PFNR is taken from Frojdová et al. (2017: fig. 1). Brousmiche (1986: 232) used the name "Institute of Geological Sciences".

Brousmiche (1986) supposed that the Strur's syntypes are lost. But Frojdová et al. (2017) rediscovered the original Stur's specimens, so the neotype designation is invalid.

Original diagnosis/description

Foliuni speetabilis magnitudinis longitudine 30cm superans, ultra 30 cm latum, ambitu ovatum, apice tri-, basi quadripinnatifide-laciniatum ; rhachis principalis 2 mm circiter lata, fiexuosa, glabra, rhaches primarias filiformes, glabras, intervallis elongatis, 2–5 cm longis, insertas gerens; segmenta primaria summa usque 6 cm longa et 3 cm lata, media et basalia longitudinem 20 cm attingentia et usque 8 cm lata, ambitu elongato- vel lanceolato-triangularia ; segmenta secundaria summa 1,5 cm longa et 0,7 cm lata, media et basalia longitudinem 4 cm et latitudinem 2 cm attingentia, ambitu lanceolato-triangularia; segmenta ultimi gradus in subsequentibus folii partibus variae magnitudinis et figurae et quidem in apice folii: segmenta tertiaria, in medio et ad basin folii: segmenta quartiordinis media usque 4 mm longa et 2 mm lata, oblonga, sessilia, catadrome parum decurrentia et pinnatifida, 1. in 4–5 lacinias lanceolatas acutasque divisa apicalia sensim diminuta, basalia 5 mm circiter longa, oblongo-ovata, et bipinnatifida, laciniis basalibus quartigradus laciniolatis ; nervatio obsoleta; nervus medianus tertii aut quartigradus pinnatus. nervi laterales simplices aut furcati; fructificatio paginam inferiorem segmentorum tertiariorum 1. quarti ordinis laminae verosimiliter aliquantulum contractae occupans; sporangia ovalia 0,4–0,5 mm longa, tota superficie grosse reticulato-foveolata, probabiliter in nervulis ultimi gradus inserta, intra marginem cujusvis segmenti quarti ordinis in arcum disposita.

Emended diagnosis [Frojdová et al. 2017: Rev. Palaeobot. Palynol., 236: 37]: Frond segments at least tripinnate; rachises winged; antepenultimate and penultimate rachis hirsute; basiscopic pinnules of ultimate pinnae slightly longer and narrower than acroscopic pinnules; pinnules ovoid-elongate, margin deeply lobate with 4–8 lobes per pinnule; lateral veins once bifurcate, ending in lobe; costal cells above midvein elongated subrhomboidal, anticlinal walls straight; costal cells above lateral veins polygonal, elongate, anticlinal walls rounded or undulate; intercostal cells irregularly polygonal, elongate, anticlinalwall deeply “U″-shaped undulation unequal; stomata occurring in intercostal areas, anomocytic; sporangia attached to end of lateral veins at top of pinnule lobes; ovoid, short-stalked, annulate; annulus shield-lateral type, equatorial, oriented toward the centre of pinnule, occupying more than half of sporangium; stomium of five rows of elongated, thick-walled cells, ongoing from the top and ending near the sporangial base, close to the pedicel; apical cell rounded, thickwalled, surrounded by several thick-walled cells; thin-walled ordinary cells polygonal; in situ spores with triangular to subtriangular amb, concave sides;majority of specimenswithmicrogranulate exine, sometimes secondarily folded.
