Original diagnosis/description
Filaments wide, tubular, dichotomously and laterally branched, rarely septate. Filaments not attenuated, straight to slightly curved, seldom recurved, in matlike aggregates. Filaments attain lengths greater than 1,200 μm. Nature of terminations and mode of reproduction unknown.
Etymology
Refers to the possible siphonaceous nature of the filaments and their great age.
