Types

Original diagnosis/description

Primary xylem with slender strands. Pits on the radial walls of the tracheids exclusively uniseriate, predominantly spaced and rounded with circular
apertures. Cross-field, with 4 to 12 oculipores per cross-field, arranged in alternate to opposite rows. Rays parenchymatous, exclusively uniseriate with 1 to 18 cells high. Pits on the tangential walls of the tracheids, uniseriate and sparsely arranged.

Etymology

The specific epithet placidoi is in honor of Plácido Cidade Nuvens, sociologist and professor at URCA, who worked intensively for establishment of
Museu de Paleontologia Plácido Cidade Nuvens.
