Original diagnosis/description
Floating aquatic plants with rosettes of peltate leaves helically arranged around short stems and numerous elongate roots bearing fine unbranched lateral roots. Leaves petiolate, with a peltate base. Primary venation parallel pinnate with basal primaries entering the posterior division of the leaves. Primary veins not forming a marginal collective vein. Reticulate secondary veins opposite-percurrent. Higher order reticulate venation consisting of one or two orders of opposite percurrent veins.
Etymology
The generic name ‘Pseudolimnobiophyllum’ is derived from the Greek word ψευδής, pseudes, meaning lying, false, and Limnobiophyllum. The specimens are at first glance similar to Limnobiophyllum.
