Original diagnosis/description
Spheroidal to ellipsoidal pollen organ composed of numerous radiating scales. Each scale (microsporophyll) bearing or containing long narrow pollen sacs and expanding at the apex into a circular to hexagonal head. Pollen of the Eucommiidites-type with a single prominent colpus on the distal surface flanked by two lateral colpi.
Etymology
In honour of Gunnar Erdtman who first named and drew attention to the Eucommiidites pollen.
