Original diagnosis/description

Homosporous eusporangiate fern with compound pinnate leaves with reduced leaf lamina or even without leaf lamina. Lateral veins with hydathods. Some lateral veins of last order segments (on average, two or three of nine–ten veins) having terminally positioned synangia, consisting of four marginally fused sporangia. Spores rounded or ovoid in outlines, monolete, with smooth sporoderm, about 25 μm in diameter.

Etymology

From the Latin ramificatus (branching), after branching lateral veins of fertile segments with a reduced leaf lamina.
