Original diagnosis/description
Trilete spores, convexly triangular to sub-circular in equatorial outline. Laesurae extend to more than two-thirds radius of spore, flanked by distinct membranous lips. Proximal and distal surfaces canaliculate, comprising sets of closely spaced, broad, flat-topped, muri arranged parallel to spore contour on proximal face, commonly in whorls in equatorial regions, and forming a spiral pattern about distal pole. Individual muri are c. 5.0–8.0 μm thick separated by grooves c. 0.5–2.0 μm wide. Mural structure distinctly microporate; micropores also occur in between muri, arranged alternately on either side of grooves.
