Original diagnosis/description

Bracteoles narrow, shorter than ovary. Sepals triangular; petals ligulate, slightly longer than sepals. Anthers dorsifixed, introrse with longitudinal dehiscence; pollen grains small, tricolporate and tectate. Ovary urceolate with ten prominent longitudinal ridges.
