Original diagnosis/description

Secondary wood, growth rings macroscopically distinct, but microscopically indistinguishable, only radial walls of the tracheids pitted, pits mostly uni- sometimes biseriate, tangentially flattened alternate, hexagonal and contiguous. Cross-field pits 2-6, usually 4, bordered, circular, separate; apertures as big as the border. Medullary rays simple, uniseriate, 1-10 cells high (average-4-5 cells in 24 counts). Xylem parenchyma absent. Resin tracheids present at places.
