Types

Original diagnosis/description

Pistillate inflorescence sessile on an axis. Inflorescence composed of about 100 flowers. Each flower apparently consists of five carpels surrounded by short, broad, membranous tepals. Tepals typically about one third the length of the capels. Carpels narrow, obtriangular in outline with slightly pointed apex.

Etymology

From the State of North Carolina, USA, where the fossils were collected.
