Type
Endressianthus miraensis E.M.Friis, K.R.Pedersen et Schönenb.
Original diagnosis/description
Flowers unisexual. Pistillate and staminate flowers borne separately in compound, cymose inflorescences with spirally arranged dichasial inflorescence subunits. Each dichasium supported by a large bract and apparently consisting of four flowers. Pistillate flowers epigynous with small aciculate perianth parts borne near the apex of the ovary. Gynoecium bicarpellate and syncarpous, bilocular. Apical region with distinct slit in the plane of the two carpels. Fruits unilocular or bilocular, indehiscent nuts or drupes, containing a single seed per locule. Staminate flowers apparently tetramerous with four stamens alternating with minute perianth parts. Stamens with short filaments and dithecate, tetrasporangiate anthers; connective restricted to small central zone; distal and proximal lobes of thecae extend beyond the connective.
Pollen of Interporopollenites-type, oblate with triangular equatorial outline and oval polar outline, and strongly protruding at the aperture regions, porate with three endopores and six exopores. Aperture regions interconnected by distinct arcus.
