Original diagnosis/description
Globose staminate inflorescences composed of a spheroidal receptacular core bearing staminate flowers. Stamens have long filaments and shorter tetrasporangiate anthers with extensive connective tissue between the two pairs of pollen sacs and well-developed valvate dehiscences. Anthers basifixed, lacking a distinct joint at the base and gradually merging into the upper part of the filament. Apical extension of the connective beyond the pollen sacs very weakly developed. Pollen small, prolate, foveo-reticulate.
