Original diagnosis/description
Shoots bearing helically arranged imbricate leaves. Leaves dimorphic, multiveined, sessile, not keeled. Apex attenuate, base slightly narrowed. Leaves amphistomatic. Stomata oriented parallel to leaf margin, arranged in longitudinal rows. Stomata surrounded by four or five subsidiary cells. Ordinary epidermal cells elongate, rhomboidal.
Etymology
In honor of Gar Rothwell, who significantly contributed to our understanding of conifer evolution.
