Original diagnosis/description

Multi-ovulate cupule goblet-shaped, singly terminating a stalk, with basal two-third fused and distal one-third dissected into 16 linear tips. Outer surface of cupule smooth. Each cupule bearing two ovules at the fused lower part. Synangiate pollen organs terminating isotomously divided fertile branches. Each synangiate pollen organs consisting of elongate microsporangia that are basally fused and distally free.

Etymology

From Greek word “calyc-” (cup-like) and “sperma” (seed), referring to the basally fused, goblet-shaped cupules.
