Original diagnosis/description

Lanceolate leaves with parallel margins. Venation fine, small difference between “thick” vascular strands and “thin” sclerenchymatous bundles. Stomatal complexes on adaxial cuticle prominent, isolated, formed of two reniform lateral, and two small polar subsidiary cells. Stomatal complexes on abaxial cuticle arranged in stomatiferous bands. Lateral subsidiary cells gibbous, typically reniform. Polar subsidiary cells small, more-or-less rounded. Circular crypt developed above the stomatal opening.
