Original diagnosis/description
Trimerous staminate flower with outer tepals shorter than inner tepals. Stamens with a prominent apical globular extension above the tetrasporangiate anthers. In situ pollen grains monocolpate and finely verrucate.
Etymology
The specific epithet refers to the possible affinity to Annonaceae.
